The cats have had a busy October...the first 14 days we were in cold and snow of Utah enjoying a reunion with dear friends. And the past 14 days we're in desert and heat of Nevada without data or phone signal. It's been a challenge coping...Geordie refused to go out a couple of days. Didn't want her dainty paws getting frost bitten. We really enjoyed watching the crazy good skiers practising aerial jumps at the Olympic Park. She is now loving the warm weather and great places to explore. She does love the desert! We came across a large herd of Big Horn Sheep...the rams checked out us carefully for any threats before allowing their herd to join them. Obviously they thought we were harmless Travel safe and have fun!

Geordie loves to explore everywhere we go: the rivers, the trails, the Walmart parking lot. You name it, she checks it out!! The narrow roof above the slide when it's pulled in is also good for an explore  as you can see from this photo. But take note: the slide can be dangerous when it's in motion for an animal. We lock both cats in the bedroom when we are setting up or closing up for travel. Please, b e very careful when you're working the slide. Travel safe - and have fun!

We've had some fun this week - there are only about 8 campsites taken and there are 4 calicos walking on leads! It's unusual enough to have lots of cats walking on leads in one campsite, but all four being calicos is really different. They haven't become big buddies but we humans are enjoying the unusual situation ... so, meet Geordie's new walking partners, a gorgeous bevy of girls: the lovely Josie JOSIE is the oldest. She's a beautiful long haired calico. She lives with her fulltime RV human (Mum) and they've been on the road exploring for years. She's a happy well cared for girl with quite the most fluffy tail! Friendly Whisper WHISPER: is a young cat, about 2 and is much adored by her two humans. She's got beautiful smoky colouring. And she loves to explore, climb trees and chase critters. Okay, tired of answering questions for a while... thought it might be fun to tell you about some Geordie's favourite places to explore... to date. As soon as we stop and get the RV set up, Geordie drives us crazy until she goes out to see and explore her new territory. She doesn't like commercial parks – even nice ones. There's an easy explanation...too many people/dogs too close to us. Usually there's road noise. But as we very rarely stay in commercial parks, so it's not a big problem. The simple answer is – she likes to explore where there are wide open spaces, fun critters to chase, like grasshoppers or lizards, interesting smells to investigate and trails to follow. It may seem strange but get on a marked trail and she follows it without hesitation or deviation. She just took to them naturally. Do the cats get along well? Togetherness We're constantly amazed at this question. I usually get smart arse and reply, "They're cats. Who knows?" No - just kidding. But, they are cats ...sometimes they are the best of friends, others they'll studiously ignore each other. At times they will have wee fisty cuffs. Others they'll happily groom each other. The amount of space they live in doesn't seem to bother them. There's lots of hiddy holes for each of them. They can lounge on the dashboard and view the world. Where do they hide inside? Everywhere is the simple answer.. the inside of an RV is chock full of hideaway nooks. They have their favourites, for sure, but every so often one of them turns up in a new spot we haven't thought of. Our cave dweller is hard to spot in the cupboard Chaussettes is our resident cave dweller. She loves dark cupboards, every morning she goes to the big hanging closet and settles way in the back. Do we let them outside alone? Do they try to run away?? The easy answer is No and No. We don't let the cats out alone. Not because we are worried they'll run away, although Geordie is so curious she doesn't always pay attention to her surroundings, so could perhaps get disoriented. We change our surroundings quite dramatically every couple of weeks, so we just feel better if Geordie is on a lead. She gets out for at least two long walks a day. She chases lizards, climbs trees and stalks unsuspecting chipmunks. And she hangs out with us when we're doing stuff, or just sitting reading, outside. She certainly isn't deprived of any cat activity. We always keep an eye out for other animals, especially birds of prey, but mostly dogs. We both love dogs but not every one is a responsible owner or has a well behaved mutt. However in two years, we've only had a couple of close encounters so it's definitely not a major issue.
